Jakarta, August 25, 2025 – The National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS) and the SEBI Institute of Islamic Studies (Institut SEBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) focused on enhancing the quality of Human Resources (HR) in the Islamic economy. The signing took place at the KNEKS office in Jakarta on Monday.
The event was attended by KNEKS Directors, including Ir. Putu Rahwidhiyasa, MBA, CIPM, serving as Acting Director of the Halal Product Industry and Director of Islamic Business and Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, MBA, Director of Islamic Ecosystem Infrastructure. Representing SEBI Institute were Rector Sigit Pramono, Ph.D., CA, CPA, along with Dr. Azis Budi Setiawan, S.E.I., M.M. (Director of Postgraduate Studies) and Dr. Sepky Mardian, M.M. (Deputy Rector I).
The signing of the MoU and PKS is a follow-up to a previously established understanding between the two institutions, focusing on synergy in education, training, research, and sharing sessions to enhance the quality of HR in the Islamic economy and finance sector.
Rector Sigit Pramono highlighted that this collaboration marks an important moment for the wakaf campus to expand its contribution in providing qualified experts and academics in the field of Islamic economy. “The postgraduate program at SEBI Institute will be one of the pillars in producing a generation of academics and practitioners ready to face global challenges,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, KNEKS Director Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat emphasized that improving HR quality is key to accelerating the growth of the Islamic economy ecosystem in Indonesia. “KNEKS is committed to facilitating strategic collaborations with universities, including SEBI Institute, to achieve an acceleration of professional, integrity-driven, and globally competitive HR transformation,” he stated.
In addition to the signing ceremony, the event also featured a presentation on the SEBI Institute's Postgraduate Program by the postgraduate team. This program introduces a Master's in Economics (M.E.) with a concentration in Islamic economics and finance, designed to cultivate outstanding academic leaders, researchers, and practitioners.
This collaboration will last for four years and can be extended based on mutual agreement. Its scope includes the socialization of educational programs, training, collaborative research, and academic publications.
Through this synergy, KNEKS and SEBI Institute hope to make a more significant contribution to the development of the national Islamic economy while strengthening Indonesia's role as a global center for Islamic finance.
